Doug_headshotDoug Kneeland is the Director of Interactive at Outthink, an award-winning  CT-based marketing and advertising agency with a specialization in the travel, hospitality and real estate markets.  Outthink also has clients in the education, manufacturing and retail realms.  A former educator, Doug enjoys de-mystifying the web and helping companies develop strategies in leading edge areas.  Currently, that places a high emphasis on social media marketing and monitoring.

Prior to his work at Outthink, Doug was the VP of Interactive Strategy at Adams & Knight, an agency with a focus on healthcare and financial services clients.  On the agency side, Doug has also worked with Frognet.com, an Interactive agency in Norwalk, CT.

Doug has also held client-side positions as well.  As the Marketing and Business Development Director of CheckerBee Publishing he led this leading publisher of collectible guide books to $1.5mm in online sales using a wide assortment of online marketing and web development tactics that were novel at the time and have since become more widely adopted. In addition, Doug also held a key Business Development role at Auctions.com, the leading early competitor to Ebay where he was instrumental in helping develop online auction and ecommerce strategies that forged new paths in that arena.

Doug is a also a former luthier having worked in partnership at the noted Youngblood Music Workshop where he restored and sold some of the finest acoustic stringed instruments such as guitars, banjos and mandolins.  Before the development of the browser-based web, Doug took the Music Workshop online where he saw a vibrant new sales and communication channel developing.  Once he sold his first instrument to someone half-way around the world that he would not have met through any other means, he became hooked  and has since dedicated himself to sharing his passion for the medium with others.
