Online Ad Growth: Search leads but social and mobile gaining

Forrester Research released their “Five-Year Interactive Marketing Forecast Report” that projects a 17% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for interactive advertising. Here are some highlight from the report:

  • Interactive ad spend will grow from 12% of total ad spend in 2009 to 21% in 2014
  • Social media marketing will experience a 34% CAGR
  • Mobile media marketing will experience a 27% CAGR
  • Search marketing constitutes more than 50% of ad dollars today and will grow by a 15% CAGR
  • The shift to digital media continues in large part due to the increased pressure to optimize ad spend with maximim track-ability
